Rick Steve's Best of Turkey 2001 Tour aka The Magnificent Magnum Tour
Our tour started in Istanbul on May 26, 2001 and ended on the Greek island of Samos on June 7, 2001. We had traveled around Europe and had thought about visiting Turkey, but we weren't comfortable doing it on our own. We feel that we received more out of our visit to Turkey since we had our guide to tell us about the sites and history, she was a wealth of knowledge. It was nice not having to arrange transportation, Turkey doesn't have an extensive rail system so we would have had to rely on buses. We really enjoyed the home visits and the Turkish people we were able to meet. Our tour group was fun - a great mix of people from all over the US. The group consisted of about half couples and half singles, about half were under 35 and half over. We started off as strangers, but formed many friendships. We have kept in contact via email and visits. It was neat to meet so many other people who love to travel, I guess you could call it "travel addicts meet other travel addicts!"
